Toyota Sequoia Wheel Center Caps

The Toyota Sequoia is a full-size SUV that can play many roles. It can haul the kids around town or do heavy work on rugged roads. Hard use can bring damage, like missing center caps, that sends you looking for replacements.

When should you replace center caps on the Sequoia?

If you lose a center cap, or if they are damaged by debris, you may wonder if they are worth replacing. The short answer is that they are. The center caps help to keep water and road grime from being thrown up into the wheels. This protects the wheel bearings and hub nut from corrosion and wear.

How do you find the right center caps?

Toyota has used at least seven different styles of wheel center caps on the Sequoia throughout the model years. This means you need to be careful to get the right one for your particular vehicle.

Using the part number is the surest way to get matching parts. If you take off one of the OEM center caps on your vehicle, you will see a string of numbers and letters on the back. This is the part number. Have that with you when you shop, and make sure the new part has the same number.

What are the options for Toyota Sequoia center caps?

Toyota center caps for this SUV can be broadly categorized as spoked, scalloped, or round. The spoked and round styles are found in overlapping model years, so be sure to double-check your part number before you buy.

Spoked: This style has five or six short spokes extending from the center. The number of spokes will correspond to the number of lugs on the wheel, with the lugs being exposed between the spokes. The center of the cap has the Toyota emblem, which is often chrome. The finish on the center caps may be chrome, silver, machined, or hyper-silver. This style is typical of model years from 2003 forward.

Scalloped: Scalloped center caps extend over the lug nuts, but do not cover them. Each scallop has a hole that allows the lug to pass through, leaving its head exposed. This style is usually found on 2008 Sequoias.

Round: There are two different styles of round wheel center caps. One style, found on the 2001 and 2002 models, has six holes in the perimeter for the lugs to pass through. The other style is a shallow dome that completely covers the lugs. This type may be found with a variety of trim packages made between 2001 and 2007.

How do you replace Toyota center caps?

This process is simple and straight forward. First, remove the old center caps from your Sequoia by carefully prying them loose from the front with a screwdriver. If this does not work, remove the wheel and tap the caps out from the back. Next, install the new cap by positioning it over the opening and sharply rapping it into place.
