The types of cap Lexus chose for most models of this car are large, and there is clearly something missing if they are not installed.

Besides their aesthetic value, center caps do play a role in keeping the working parts of the wheel clean. While you are probably not taking your Lexus SC 430 on wilderness adventures, even city streets have their share of water and grime. There are four different styles of center cap that Lexus used on this coupe. They can be categorized as small round, large round, twisted, and star-shaped.

• Small round: These center caps are 2.375 inches in diameter. They are essentially flat and may be chrome, silver, or hyper-silver. They have a chrome or gold emblem in the center.
• Large round: These 13.5-inch caps have five holes to allow access to the lugs and 10 small holes around the perimeter for bolting them to the wheel. They are silver with a raised emblem in the center.
• Twisted: The twisted cap is similar to the large round style, but it has the appearance of fanned metal plates.
• Star-shaped: This 16-inch center cap has five arms that extend over the spokes of the wheel. It has holes for five lugs and may be hyper-gray or chrome.

The large round, twisted, and star-shaped caps can be removed from the front of the wheels by taking out the bolts that hold them on. You do not have to take off the lug nuts. To remove the small round caps, you must take off the wheel and push them out from the back.
