Buying Guide for Virgin Mobile Slider Phones

Having a smartphone or cell phone that you can carry with you everywhere can be beneficial, especially if you are always waiting to receive important calls or emails. If you spend a large amount of time texting or answering emails while on the go, a slider phone on the Virgin Mobile network may have everything you need to stay productive even when you are out of the house or office.

What types of slider cell phones are available through Virgin Mobile?

While most slider cell phones operate in the same way, there are two different types that you may come across:

  • With numeric keypad: Some slider cell phones have a physical numeric keypad and other navigation buttons beneath the display. These phones generally dont have a touchscreen, so you use the keypad, the D-pad, and the menu buttons to go through the different menu screens.
  • Without numeric keypad: These smartphones have a full-size touchscreen display on the front of the device. You can use your fingers to open your contacts, access the Internet, or play games that require capacitive touchscreen technology.
What hardware features should you consider?
  • Screen size: If you spend much of your time typing, you may want a larger display so that you can see what you are writing more easily. Cell phones with numeric keypads generally have smaller screens while touchscreens tend to be larger.
  • Button size: Larger buttons may be easier to type with, although smaller buttons allow the slider cellphone to be more compact.
  • Internal memory: The more internal memory a phone has, the more data it can store.
  • Connectivity: Most cellphones are able to connect to a wireless network. Additionally, some phones may have Bluetooth so that you can connect the phone to your car stereo and other Bluetooth-capable devices.
What should you consider when looking for slider phones?
  • Keyboard: All sliders have a full QWERTY keyboard. However, this keyboard can slide from the bottom of the phone or the side of the phone. Keyboards that slide out the bottom may have smaller buttons that are closer together. QWERTY keyboards that slide out the side may have larger buttons with more space between them.
  • Camera: Slide phones can have either one or two cameras. Consider what modes they can shoot in, if they have an LED flash, and how high the resolution is.
  • Apps and games: Android cell phones with touchscreens have access to the Android app store. You can download a wide variety of games right to your phone. Non-Android cellphones may also still have games available, although they may require the use of the D-pad.
