Sad they stopped making it, but understandable why.
I've wanted one of these since they were announced back around 2009, but always thought they were too expensive. Now new-old stock units are selling for about what the WS4 should have cost new, so I have two now. Good: Lightweight, especially for its size. The thermometer is accurate when the watch isn't being worn, more accurate, in fact, than my Brunton ADC Pro weather meter(don't buy an ADC). The pressure altimeter is as accurate as any consumer pressure altimeter could be, meaning it's a ballpark number and should not be treated as an absolute. The interface is very clear and intuitive; I got the time and date set before even looking at the manual. The display is large and clear. Battery replacement is easy and only takes a coin for removal of the battery cover. Lots of alarm options that can be set by individual day. Totally subjective, but I think it's a good looking watch too. Not so good: Like the original price, the watch is HUGE. It doesn't bother me, but it's a consideration for some. It uses a larger CR2430 coil cell that is not as easy to find as a ubiquitous CR2032, but the watch uses juice and needs a higher-capacity battery for longer replacement intervals. Replacement bands are effectively no longer available and it's integrated with the watch body anyway. Replacing it means replacing everything but the movement. The whole thing is also made in China. I have not had mine long enough to evaluate durability, but there have been occasional reports that parts of the display can malfunction.

My Best Watch For Many Years. Extremely Easy To Read.
I have about 10 watches, ranging from contemporary elegance (Movado) to utilitarian (work and sports). Of all the watches I use, I find this one to be on my wrist 95% of the time. I have had this same watch for many years and decided to purchase a backup/spare in case the one I have becomes too beat up to wear. What I love about this watch is: Numerals large enough to be easily read, with a black on white/cream contrast that is extremely easy to see in all conditions. The Indiglo illumination at time, with the touch of the stem button to light it up, while depressed. I can always see what time it is, if I wake up in the middle of the night and need to see the time. I can wear it when I go swimming or boating. And, most importantly it keeps perfect time. I have never had to reset it, due to gaining or losing any time. It is the perfect watch.

Stylish is very subjective.
One of ebay's pre questions for this watch, "is it stylish"? Don't know, don't care. What it is, is very functional and easy to use. Some watches loaded with functions like this one are complicated to use. I learned how to use this myself without help from any of my kids or grandkids. The screen size and shape allow for larger and easier to read displays also. Hard to fit some readouts into a round screen. Accuracy in a device this small is surprisingly good. I tested the compass next at home to verify true north, tested the barometer against a large one in my house and took it up in my Beechcraft to test the altimeter. One cool feature is putting the backlight into "night mode". Then you just touch any button and it lights up instead of finding the light button. Hope this helps.

Great watches, functional, long lasting and reasonably priced
I wasn't sure if I would like the design of the dial face but found it is nice. The back lighting on these Timex watches is excellent. This model is just the right size, It is not the size of an alarm clock with a band on it. I've had more Timex watches than I can count over my many years on the planet. They are the best bang for the buck. The leather bands and loop don't last so you make a plan upfront to replace the band in about 18 months. And don't try to replace the battery yourself on an expedition without the proper tools, the gasket will get pinched rendering the watch useless. The expedition watches are wonderful for active people in most any sport. You can plan on five years or more of use out of them.

Better than ever....
This watch is a streamlined version of a previous Expedition I have owned, and loved. If you are looking for an everyday, functional, athletic watch that you can wear to the symphony, too, this may be for you. It has every feature that the old one had, plus the watch stem is now protected and the size is better. I wish it was water resistant to 100 meters like the old one instead of the current 50 meters, but then again I notice all the Timex watches have been adjusted to the 50 meter level. And, I am not going diving any time soon, I hope. No pun intended. Finally, and this is important, it lights up at night and still "takes a lickin and keeps on tickin". You gotta love that.

Dress watch at a bargain.
This Timex is a classic design, the face lights up, the hands are luminous, and the day and date are handy features. Of course, you need to fiddle with it once a month, to reset the date, as it's not digital. The body on this Timex is not too big, and not too small, it's silver finish and crystal face are tough, and still look like new. I especially like the finely woven watch strap, it's very comfortable, and quality made to last. If you don't need the bells and whistles of a digital, and you want the dressy elegance of a simple watch, the Expedition line of Times offers satisfying choices.

Perfect balance of style, fit and durability.
I wanted a durable stylish watch fitting my medium sized wrist and this was perfect. I only wanted an analog watch with time and date and didn't need it to survive a plane crash, however, the water proof rating was a requirement for heavy rain or accidental immersion. It goes well with "camouflage type" clothing and also looks great with jeans.........and casual wear. This watch met my requirements and is also NOT made in China.........for a change. It's relatively thin and not bulky like many anti-shock types. So, in summation, it's a perfect blend of style, fit and durability from a trusted brand: "Timex". And it is ticking......

Wrist Band a Total Engineering/Design Fail
For me a major defect is the klunky Velcro wristband. It is too thick, too stiff, too hard to adjust and put on. Even worse is that the "buckle" end is too short (too near the watch) making it for me a time consuming & clumsy trick to put on the watch. It is something you will not notice until you try to put the watch on for the first time. Takes three hands to do it! I like Velcro but the engineering of this wrist band was a total fail on this watch. Other than the wrist band it is an OK watch.

Stem fell off for no reason, a possible design flaw
It does what I wanted. I wanted a stylish watch with a large easy read. By easy I mean I do not need reading glasses or bright light to tell time. It looks like it could withstand heavy treatment. I initially rated this watch five stars. Unfortunately, the stem fell off. When I checked other reviews I saw that this was a problem.

One Feature MIssing
The representative at Timex, and the description on the Timex website, said that this series of watches had the ability in the alarm feature to set an alarm for a specific day of the week (Sunday, Thursday, etc). It does not. It only has the ability to set for DAILY, WEEKDAYS or WEEKENDS alarms. I was disappointed.
