Tail Lights for the Nissan Versa

One part on the Nissan Versa that owners routinely upgrade or replace is the taillight bulb. It is important to know about the different taillights there are for the Versa in order to make the best purchasing decision for the sedan.

What are the different options for taillight bulbs?

The main three types of car or truck light bulbs are LED, halogen, and incandescent. Many vehicles automatically come with LED light bulbs. Do your research and assess your own individual situation before purchasing new lighting parts.

  • Incandescent bulbs are a well-known and widely used style of lighting. These bulbs have a filament wire that is heated by an electric current, which causes the bulb to glow a warm yellow-white color. They are designed to last about 1,200 hours.
  • Halogen bulbs contain a tungsten filament. A small amount of halogen gas mixes with tungsten vapor and deposits it back onto the filament, extending the bulb’s lifespan and allowing it to work at higher temperatures.
  • LED bulbs do not include a filament, so they are both durable and shock-proof. They are energy-efficient, have low heat emissions, and can last up to 60,000 hours.
What brands manufacture taillight parts?

How do you change Nissan Versa taillights?

On the hatchback style model, open the back hatch door. Look behind the light area for two snap covers that will have a small opening. Insert a flat head screwdriver into the covers and carefully take them off. You will see a small nut connecting the taillight behind the covers. Always refer to the Nissan Versas owners manual if you have any difficulty locating the parts. Now follow the steps below.

  1. Use a socket and ratchet to remove the lower nut and then remove the upper nut.
  2. Carefully remove the entire light. It should completely separate from the body of the car.
  3. Unscrew the bulbs socket until the piece pops out and gently replace the old part with the new part.
  4. Place the fixture back in the same manner that it was removed. The socket should turn clockwise to properly fit into place. The entire fixture should be flush with the rest of the car. Place the nuts that you initially removed back into place and put the interior covers back on.
  5. Test out your light by having a friend press on the brakes. Ensure that the parts are properly functioning before driving the vehicle.
