Nissan Rogue Taillights

Taillights, also called tail lamps, play a vital role in your Nissans lighting system. When other motorists are driving behind your Rogue, the back end lights alert trucks and cars if you slow down or are planning to make a turn. If your Rogue taillights need to be replaced, there are a number of different options of parts on the market.

What components make up a taillight?

Taillights are made up of three main components. These components are the following:

  • Taillight housing: The housing is the component that houses the light and the lens. Its also the component that is mounted to the vehicle frame. The housing does not always need to be replaced when the bulbs burn out or the lens is not working as intended.
  • Bulbs: This is the component that actually illuminates. There are several different types that you can choose from depending on your wants and needs. When one burns out, you can quickly and easily install a replacement bulb.
  • Lens: This component comprises the outer plastic shell. The lens comes in a variety of colors, including clear or smoked. In some taillights, the lens over the brake lights may be red to glow when you hit the brakes.
What should you consider when looking for taillights?
  • Type of bulb: The different types give off different amounts of illumination and have different expected life spans. If you frequently drive at night, you may want to consider LEDs as they last the longest and give off a brilliant glow. Otherwise, xenons or halogen accessories work just as well.
  • Compatibility: If your Nissan is not wired for LEDs and you have no plans to rewire your Nissan Rogue, you will want to stay with xenon or halogen options. Further, you want to make sure that the entire housing assembly works with your Nissan Rouge.
  • Style: The standard taillight includes lenses that are tinted red and orange for the brake light and turn signals. Euro taillights, on the other hand, have clear lenses and tinted bulbs. Both work the same way, but you may have preferences over what you want, especially as they can change the appearance of your vehicle and its tailgate.
  • Housing finish: The taillight housing can have a number of different finishes, including chrome. However, you will also find black, smoked, and even clear finishes.
What styles of taillights are there?
  • Standard: Standard tail lamps have white bulbs and lenses that are different colors depending on what role it plays. For example, the turn signal has a lens that is tinted orange to give the orange illumination effect.
  • Euro: Euro taillights, also called Altezza taillights, have clear lenses. The LEDs or halogens, on the other hand, are tinted to give the red or orange glow when you stop or turn on the turn signal. This gives your Nissan Rogue a unique appearance when viewed from the back.
