Jeep Cherokee Seat Belts Parts

Over time and because of normal wear and tear, you may find that you need to replace the seat belts in your Jeep. With replacement parts for your Jeep, you can easily do your own repair work.

What is the purpose of seat belts?

In the event of a car crash, Jeep Cherokee seat belts have been proven to save lives. Seat belts reduce the force of a collision and help keep your body in place in the event of a roll. Because of this, many states have laws requiring all vehicle passengers to wear a seat belt, ensuring your safety.

What kind of restraints are available for a Jeep Cherokee?

The type of Jeep seat belts you need will depend on the year of your Cherokee. Be sure to check the owners manual to find the specific seat belts that your Jeep requires. Your restraint should fit snugly and comfortably.

  • Three-point shoulder restraint: Front seats and some back seats will utilize a three-point shoulder restraint. This type of restraint crosses over the chest and lap and buckles on the inner side of the seat. These restraints are the safest option.
  • Two-point lap belt: Some models of the Jeep Cherokee may use a two-point lap belt in the back seat, particularly in the middle seat. This type of restraint only crosses over the lap and buckles.
What are some other non-standard belts?

Based on your lifestyle, you may want another type of restraint beyond the ones that come standard in your Jeep Cherokee. Options include:

  • Fashion covers: These covers can bring a fun element of style to your car with fashionable prints and colors.
  • Comfort covers: Sometimes your belt may not be comfortable, especially if your restraint falls in an awkward position. A cover may help you to feel more comfortable and keep the restraint from cutting into your body.
  • Racing harnesses: If you are interested in off-road racing, you need more protection than a standard restraint can offer. You can install a four- or five-point harness that will cross over both of your shoulders and can buckle between your legs. These harnesses will offer the most protection as youre racing over hills and in the event of a roll or collision.
How do you replace the seat belts?

Replacing the restraints in your Jeep Cherokee is simple and only requires a few tools, including a flat head screwdriver and a star screwdriver to remove the bolts.

  1. Put the vehicle in park and turn off the engine. Remove the plastic cover, the anchor bolt, and the upper mounting bolt.
  2. Remove the inner scuff plate and the lower mounting bolt.
  3. Remove the belt and install the replacement and then repeat the instructions backwards.
