Ford Expedition Radiators and Parts

A lot is riding on the cooling system in your Ford Expedition. From achieving comfortable temperatures within the vehicle to ensuring that the engine is kept at a safe level, having access to radiators and cooling system parts you can rely on goes a long way to ensuring both safety and comfort.

Where is the heater control valve in a Ford Expedition?

A major component of many different car and truck HVAC systems, the heater control valve regulates the flow of coolant coming from the engine to the Expeditions heater core. While the heater core is located inside of the vehicle while the radiator that holds the coolant is located under the autos hood, you will often find the heater control valve mounted near the firewall under the Fords hood.

What types of automobile coolant reservoirs are available?

When you want to replace the coolant reservoir in your automobile, you will find that these parts are made from three different types of materials. These parts are available in plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel. Aluminum and stainless-steel coolant reservoirs are quite durable. However, plastic can hold up better against rust or corrosion.

When does a radiator fan need to be replaced?
  • Fuse - You should check the fuse for the cooling system in your Ford Expedition SUV if the fan fails to work properly.
  • Fan wires - There are two wires that go to the radiator fan. Disconnect these wires and reconnect them to see if the fan begins to work. You may need to use a voltmeter to check the current that is going to the fan through these wires. There should be approximately 12 volts of direct current that is present.
  • Damaged temperature sensor - There is a temperature sensor located in the thermostat. If this sensor is not working properly, it can prevent the signals going to the fan from being delivered. Changing the sensor should return the operation of the fan.
  • Low coolant level - Inspect the reservoir and radiator to see if your coolant level is where it should be. Not having the appropriate amount of coolant in the system can minimize pressure and prevent the fan from kicking on.
  • Faulty fan clutch - The fan clutch is responsible for holding the radiator fan to your automobiles motor, and it makes the fan turn. If this pair experiences wire charring or the internal springs wear out, the fan will not work.
