Pottery Barn Twill Furniture Slipcovers

Sometimes you need a new look for your house, but you may not want to buy all-new furniture. A furniture slipcover can help transform the look of your chairs or sofas. Pottery Barn solid or patterned, twill slipcovers are designed to fit couches and other pieces of furniture.

How do you use a slipcover?

You can use a slipcover to introduce a new fabric color to your living area, dining area, or bedroom. A twill cover can hide damage or stains on the original fabric of an ottoman, couch or other piece of furniture.

You may use the following steps to install a new cover:

  • Unfold the cover and lay it out on the furniture.
  • With a wooden spoon, push any extra fabric into the creases of the furniture. If putting a cover on a couch or armchair, work near the arms before moving toward the back of the item.
  • Tug extra material from the center toward the edges. Tuck in the fabric at the creases again.
  • Finish the look by fastening any ties, buttons, or zippers.
  • Insert the cushions into their individual covers.
Does a sectional require multiple covers?

Some sectional couches are made up of several sections and cushions, such as a left sofa, a right one, and a center seat. Some sectionals have chaise loungers or other specialty seats. Some covers will fit over an entire piece of furniture, while other slipcovers have individual covers for each cushion or piece of the item. These may be sold in a set or purchased separately.

For what furniture styles are slipcovers available?

A slipcover should fit the length, width, and depth of your chair or sofa. When purchasing a cover, keep in mind your particular style of furniture and its dimensions. It is a good idea to double check the dimensions of your piece before choosing a cover.

Pottery Barn offers twill covers for the following types of furniture:

  • Ottomans: Footrests can receive a cover in a twill that matches or coordinates with other room pieces.
  • Dining room seats: Some slipcovers give dining room chairs a skirted appearance.
  • Swivel rockers: Some covers are designed especially for rocking seats or chairs.
  • Side chairs or armchairs: Since some chairs have rounded arms, some have square ones, and others have no arms at all. These types of covers are often made for specific styles of chairs.
  • Chair-and-a-half seats: This type of chair is wider than a standard armchair, but smaller than a sofa.
  • Loveseats: Covers are commonly used on these two-person couches that often have two cushions.
  • Sofas: Sofas may have one large cushion or two or more individual cushions. Covers for these pieces may measure about 90 inches across.
  • Sectionals: Often configured in an "L" shape, sectionals are extended sofas with space for multiple people. They require multiple cover pieces.
