5.1 surround sound is a common name given to home audio systems that use six channels. Out of these channels, five channels are high frequency, and one channel is low frequency. • Remove each of the output devices from their boxes and discard any packaging.
• Determine how you will deploy each device throughout the room. Some output devices are usually mounted on the walls while others are placed directly on the floor. Install wall mounts as necessary.
• Place each device in its intended position, and cut speaker wire at lengths that are capable of connecting each device to your stereo receiver.
• Connect the wire to the back of each device, and run the wire to your stereo receiver.
• Insert the wire into the proper orifice at the back of your receiver. These orifices will be clearly labeled.
• Turn on your stereo receiver, and play music or video through a connected input. Check each output device to ensure that you have installed your surround system correctly.
