IKEA Mattresses

Some people like to sleep on their backs, and others prefer side sleeping. Some like hard mattresses, and others firmly believe that a bed should feel like a cloud. Because not everyones sleeping preferences are the same, IKEA offers latex, spring, foam, and memory foam mattresses in a range of sizes and firmness levels.

What IKEA mattress sizes are available?

Across its line of mattresses, IKEA offers four different bed sizes:

  • Twin: The smallest standard mattress size, a twin bed measures about 39 inches by 75 inches.
  • Full: "Double" is another name for this bed size. It measures about 54 inches by 75 inches.
  • Queen: At about 60 inches by 80 inches, a queen mattress is both longer and wider than a full bed.
  • King: The largest bed size from IKEA is the king. At about 76 inches by 80 inches, it is almost twice the width of a twin bed.
What mattress styles does IKEA offer?
  • Latex: A latex mattress can also be thought of as a rubber mattress, and it can be made of synthetic or natural latex. Latex mattresses from IKEA include Matrand and Myrbacka. Natural latex options include Morgongava and Mausund.
  • Springs: The support for a spring mattress comes from the rows of springs that line the inside. IKEA has multiple models of spring mattresses, including the Hesstun, Holmsbu, and Haugesund varieties.
  • Foam: Polyurethane foam is used as the filling for these mattresses. The selection includes Minnesund, Meistervik, and Morgedal.
  • Memory foam: This type of foam is designed to conform to your body shape and your sleeping style. Both the Matrand and Myrbacka mattress lines from IKEA include memory foam options.
How do mattress firmness levels differ?

Across the mattress line, IKEA offers two firmness levels:

  • Medium firm: When you lie on these mattresses, they typically conform slightly to your body weight.
  • Firm: These mattresses provide support that does not respond as readily to the pressure exerted by your body.
What supports are required for an IKEA mattress?

IKEA designs its mattresses to rest on mattress bases or slatted beds. A separate box spring is not required. When using a mattress base, the mattress sits directly on the base. With a slatted bed, the mattress sits on top of the slats, which rest on a bed frame.

How long does it take to prepare a mattress for use?

IKEA mattresses may arrive compressed. After removing the product from the package, it regains its shape. Allow up to 72 hours for its full size to be restored. Remember also that it may take your body a few weeks to get used to a new mattress.
