Haul Your Precious Freight with a Gooseneck Cargo Heavy Equipment Trailer

Whether you're hauling expensive equipment or you need to move furniture from a house, an enclosed gooseneck pull-behind can safely get your cherished cargo to its destination. These heavy-duty gooseneck enclosed trailers hook directly on top of the hitch in the bed of a pickup or flatbed truck and discreetly haul fragile cargo.

How much weight can a gooseneck cargo trailer carry?

The weight of cargo you can carry depends on the maximum gross vehicle weight of the enclosed gooseneck pull-behind. Typically, the GVW is determined by the total weight of the trailer and the maximum weight of the cargo. Keep in mind that some states in the U.S. require you to follow GVW laws.

What ball sizes can gooseneck cargo trailers use?

Ball and joint combinations come in several sizes and towing weight capacities. Each pull-behind joint size may vary depending on the model. There are three size brackets for the commonly used ball sizes, with the 2-inch variety being most common.

  • 1-7/8 inch - Tow up to 2000 pounds; shank diameter of ? inch and 1 inch
  • 2 inch - Tow 3500 pounds to 8000 pounds; shank diameter of ? inch, 1 inch, and 1-1/4 inch
  • 2-5/16 inch - Tow 6000 pounds to 40,000 pounds; shank diameter of 1 inch and 1-1/4 inch
How do you hook up a cargo trailer?

Once you have the proper ball size, there are a few steps to follow to hook up your new enclosed pull-behind.

  • If using a pickup, pull the tailgate down to make clearance for the hitch and ensure the ball is ready.
  • Back your vehicle up to align the ball with the joint, staying within an approximate range of the hitch to the ball.
  • Lower the trailer jacks slightly until you can easily spot and line up the ball.
  • Move your vehicle until the ball is precisely aligned, and lower the jacks all the way until the ball pushes into position.
  • After the neck settles on the ball, raise the jacks, lock the ball in place, install safety chains, and hook up the lights.
Where can you store items inside a gooseneck cargo trailer?

The main storage areas of your enclosed pull-behind will be the main floor, the loft over the neck, and exterior boxes. You can also include custom interior boxes and a roof rack if you require more space.
