Why Should I Buy Energizer AAA Rechargeable Batteries?

Rechargeable batteries burst onto the scene in the early 2000s. Thousands of intrigued and skeptical customers bought their first Rechargeable Energizer batteries in the standard AA and AAA sizes. But how effective is it to recharge your AAA and AA batteries? Read on to see if the rechargeable AAA and AA batteries are the right choices for you.

What is the Energizer Company?

Before we get into rechargeable technology, how much do you actually know about the company behind the little pink bunny?

  • The company was first called the Eveready Battery Company but changed its name to Energizer in 1980.
  • The iconic Energizer bunny made his debut in 1989.
  • In January 2018 Energizer announced it was buying the Spectrum Brands, which include VARTA Consumer Batteries and Rayovac Batteries.
  • After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Energizer donated flashlights, batteries (in sizes AA, AAA, and others), razors and funds to the Red Cross to help with Hurricane efforts.

How do Rechargeable Batteries Work?

Rechargeable AAA and AA batteries might sound like a great idea but what makes them rechargeable?

  • Normal batteries and batteries you recharge produce energy the same way.
  • There is an electrochemical reaction involving an anode, cathode and electrolyte.
  • The more energy a battery has, the more mAh it has. Most AAA batteries have 750 mAh, but they can get up to 3500 mAh. An AA battery has an even higher mAh.
  • The difference is that in a rechargeable battery, the process can be reversed. That's what makes the battery rechargeable.
  • When you put your AAA batteries in the AAA battery charger, you're essentially reversing the electrochemical process that caused the battery to drain of its energy.
  • You're literally re-energizing your battery with your charger.

How do Rechargeable Batteries Help the Environment?

We've come a long way in making our products less harmful to the environment. How have rechargeable batteries helped?

  • Most old batteries are made of NiMH, which is nickel-metal hydride. NiMH helped with the power process of a battery but was terrible for the environment.
  • People would toss their NiMH batteries in the garbage instead of disposing of them properly. That means the harmful chemicals in NiMH batteries would burst open and seep into the ground or its surroundings.
  • Even though a battery that is rechargeable still contains NiMH, the batteries you recharge are easier to recycle. This keeps your environment safer.
  • Because you recharge your AA and AAA batteries with a charger instead of buying a new pack, you buy fewer batteries over time. This helps the environment by creating less waste overall.

How do Rechargeable Batteries Save Money?

Normal AA and AAA batteries are not exactly inexpensive and the charger for a rechargeable battery might throw some people off. But can using a charger to recharge your batteries really save you money in the long run?

  • Despite the initial price for a battery charger, it still saves you money over time.
  • Batteries that recharge last up to 1,000 charges. That's a ton of AA and AAA batteries you don't have to buy over and over again.
  • Keeping your Energizer batteries in the fridge means you can recharge them for even longer, saving you even more money in the long run.

Energizer rechargeable batteries are better for the environment and better for your wallet. If you live in a household that uses a lot of batteries for things like electronic toys and kits, then rechargeable batteries might help you out a lot.
