Honda Pilot A/C Hoses and Fittings

Maintain a comfortable internal environment in your Honda Pilot with a set of efficient air conditioning system hoses that keep your refrigerant flowing. Made to insulate and route coolant on its journey, these hoses include specialized containment elements that minimize leaks and coolant loss. You can further minimize leaks if you give your A/C system regular maintenance checks.

What are some Honda Pilot A/C hose replacement options?

Your Honda air conditioning system depends on a network of hoses to carry refrigerant to the various cooling system devices. These lines may appear simple on the outside, but on the inside, they are anything but simple. They need to consistently carry liquids and gases, maintain system pressure, and endure changes in temperatures. As such, they deserve careful attention when the time comes for you to consider replacement or upgrade parts. Some common Honda A/C lines include:

  • Receiver and dryer lines: The Honda Pilot receiver and dryer lines carry coolant for the trip through the evaporator.
  • Evaporator lines: Evaporators convert cooled gases into cooled air for your Pilot cabin. The lines on the evaporator side of things are sometimes called low-side hoses because the gas pressures are lower within these hoses.
  • Compressor lines: Your compressor line carries gases through the high-pressure parts of the system, and it needs to be rated for the specific pressures generated by your Pilot A/C system. This is another reason to strive to record the correct part numbers when you order new components.
  • Condenser lines: Condensers prepare hot, pressurized coolant for the trip to the dryer, and condenser lines connect the two devices.
What is an A/C barrier line?

A/C fluid is volatile at certain temperatures, and it needs to be sealed into the system to prevent evaporation or leakage. R-134 coolant sees frequent use as an automobile A/C system coolant, but it needs special materials to keep it in place. One such material is nylon, which often forms the barrier found inside A/C barrier lines. Additional layers of braided nylon and rubber surround the nylon barrier core, providing support and insulation. One wrinkle on regular barrier lines are reduced barrier lines, which include many of the same elements as regular barrier lines but in slimmer, more pliable packages. Because of their relatively smaller sizes, reduced barrier lines can save you valuable space under the hood of your Honda Pilot.

How can you deal with leaky Honda A/C hoses?

Leaky air conditioning system lines can cause several A/C system issues, including loss of cooling capacity and loss of coolant. If you stay alert to possible signs of leaks, you can minimize coolant loss and maintain comfortable temperatures in your Pilot cab.

Some common signs of leaks include:

  • Little or no cold air: If your air conditioning system fails to provide you with cold air, your low pressure return line may have a leak.
  • Slippery liquids: If, during your regular vehicle checkups, you notice any unusual slick or slippery liquid around your A/C system lines, a leak may be the cause.
